‘Batwoman’ Season 2 Trailer Debuts with Javicia Leslie as new Scarlet Knight

Javicia Leslie in Batwoman season 2
Article by Kevin M. Gallagher, Jr

After our first official look at Javicia Leslie’s Batwoman, The CW has dropped a trailer for the second season of Batwoman.

The trailer – in a short amount of time – does a great job of setting up both “Where is Kate?” and Ryan Wilder. There is no overhyping the fact that Batwoman is a different person, and it shows just enough to keep you wanting more. While the search for Kate Kane will surely be a thread throughout the season, it’s good to see that Wilder will be quickly interacting with Lucius Fox, Alice, and the rest of Gotham.

It’s hard to tell from the trailer, but Wilder’s version of Batwoman’s costume will get a few changes. The most noticeable is the wig. Gone is the straight bold red wig, and in is the curly-haired with red streaks. There are some other, more minor, changes that we’ll get to see in full effect come Episode 3 of Season 2.

Batwoman’s Batmobile makes a quick cameo in the trailer, and it’s one of the most realistic takes on the legendary vehicle. I’ll reserve full judgment until after seeing it in the show officially, but this writer likes what he’s seeing. I’ll be curious to see if they shy away from the motorcycle now, or start incorporating other Bat vehicles.

Rather than recasting Kate Kane, originally played by Ruby Rose, Batwoman chose to create a new character, Ryan Wilder. Javicia Leslie, of course, is set to play her and be the latest actor to don the cowl.

What do you think of the trailer? Are you excited for Batwoman to return with Season 2 on January 17th? Let us know in the comments!

First and foremost, Kev is a dad to two wonderful children. He's also an uber Kevin Smith fan (all Smith's movies are worth a watch, even 'Yoga Hosers') who has cried during Kermit's monologue in 'The Muppets' and once owned two VHS copies 'Spice World'. He loves all pop culture, particularly the Berlantiverse (because 'Arrow' hasn't been the face of those CW shows for years), the MCU, and Star Wars. The Evil Dead franchise is his favorite horror franchise, though the original 'Scream' is his favorite scary movie. He bleeds Eagle's green in the (suburbs of the) greatest city on Earth, Philadelphia. Go Birds!
