Nightwing #137 is a thrill ride that will push Nightwing to the edge… Let’s discuss…

Burning Bridges

The last issue of this title ended with blood. Nightwing and the witch who shanked him in the neck caused a huge accident and several people lost their lives. So of course Nightwing blames himself, to the point where he can’t sleep. Classic Dick. This story takes us right back into the chaotic crossroads and the aftermath of that. Except this time… Daddy’s in town. Batman comes to check in on Nightwing, and they find themselves trying to avert even more chaos. I liked the idea of Bruce coming to check on his kid, but the way he was written undoes the last 5 years of relationship fixing stories. So I wish that even though this is a new story, please don’t flippantly undo everything that has been so good that came before.

Building Bridges

If chaos is building in Blüdhaven, then we can only expect things to get worse. I really hope that Dick surrounds himself with loved ones to fight this foe. I say knowing after reading this issue it’s probably going to be the “I have to do this alone” schtick. I really hope I’m wrong. Nightwing, Babs, Haly, The Titans, Batman, any of the many friends Dick has made in the 80 years of stories would surely come in handy? Well… Here’s hoping.

Conclusion

Nightwing #137 is an intense issue, It had twists and turns and a great build. Looking forward to where this story takes Nightwing next!
