Titans #11 is a wonderful comic book. Honestly, I can’t praise it enough.
Fan-Girl
With a lot of the focus of the last few issues going to the Not Raven-Raven, this issue takes us in a different direction, which I’m still smiling about, well after reading. It was honestly like watching a great show, or movie. The character introduction, scene-setting, build-ups, twists, and turns are all phenomenal. I want to talk about it all so badly, but I don’t want to rob anyone of the joy of reading it themselves.
OK… so what can I give away without ruining it all? We’re introduced to a new character, who like many of us reading these books (and writing these reviews) wishes more than anything that they will become a superhero. Reading it was like a window to the soul. Needless to say, though, the rest of the story takes some twists and turns for this character, but I’m already invested and want to see this person appear more and more!
Art and The Artists
It’s hard for me to say if there was one specific element about this book that made me love it so much, or if it was a combination of everything. I’ve already talked about how the writing from Tom Taylor consistently speaks to my heart, the art delivers an equal measure of joy and adds to the feelings I’m having, right square in the emotion sector of my bat-shaped brain.
This issue is a masterclass on how to draw a superhero comic. The colors are vibrant and make every page pop! The lettering was done as if written by a quill dipped in my heart.
Honestly, this comic’s probably a mid-story that sets up something bigger. To some, it may be a solid 8 out of 10, but I loved it, as it resonated with me and was a pleasure to read.
Conclusion
Titans #11 is my idea of wonderful. The next DC encyclopedia, by the word “excellence”, should feature the photo of everyone who worked on this little book.
