Todd Phillips has announced that Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to his hit 2019 movie, has already started principal photography.

Phillips posted a teaser image of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker on his Instagram feed. There’s no context to the picture, it simply showcases Arthur Fleck, AKA the Joker, leaning his head back. His face is covered in shaving cream, with an unknown figure holding a razor.

It looks like Fleck is in Arkham Asylum and an orderly is giving him a shave.

As you can see from the image, Phoenix, once again, looks painfully thin in the role of Arthur (The Joker) Fleck.

The film supposedly picks up soon after the first movie, which earned Phoenix an Oscar for Best Actor. It also went on to earn over $1 billion at the box office.

The Joker sequel will introduce Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga.  Reportedly it will also be a musical.

Joker: Folie à Deux will hit theaters on October 9, 2024.
