My favorite Plant Goddess is back, and I can’t wait to dive right into Poison Ivy #3. Pammy’s on yet another road trip, spreading love, plants and much more. As you can see from the cover, our other favorite Bisexual disaster might be making an appearance. Let’s jump in and find out!!
Wish You Where Here
I’m so invested in the love story between Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn that whenever I see something with them in, I instantly lose it. After seeing the cover of this issue, for example, I wanted nothing more than to read about them. G. Willow Wilson can clearly write wistful scenes, as you can feel the ache that Pam experiencing. She wants everything to go back to normal, she wants to be with Harley. I loved the energy and vibe of this chapter; it’s very chill and rejuvenating. Pammy gets to relax a bit and we see her the happiest she’s been in the whole series, thus far.
There are several moments and interactions where we get to see her be a normal/ish person. Those moments are so rare with Ivy, so I’m glad we got this issue, and that we get to see this side to her. Readers may be wondering about her “evil plan”, so it’s fantastic that Wilson uses this issue to re-humanize her in the readers’ eyes. Seeing Pamela with Harley, and then in her natural environment calm and happy, that’s how you get people to look deeper into the character and her motivations. Very well played G.
What’s Poison, with Ivy
If Poison Ivy ever gets her own landscaping/nature show and we get to see it in the comics… I NEED Marcio Takara and Arif Prianto to be the artistic team on the project. Also, it should totally be called “What’s Poison, with Ivy”, she can tell you which plants to have in your garden if you want color, fragrance… or murder! Everything about the Harley sequence was different to the way we normally see Pam in this world. The fact that I thought the team had gotten a different artist in for the first couple of pages, goes to show you the range this team has. The colors for Poison Ivy #3 are wonderful! I loved the lush natural hues and bright colors that popped in certain panels.
Conclusion
This series just keeps ramping up the tension and getting better. Every issue I read, the more invested in the plotline and this version of Ivy I become. Throwing in a Harley moment will ALWAYS be a win for me. Can we just take a moment to ask what the last panel was about, though? I need answers and I need them now. What?! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? They have really stepped Poison Ivy #3 up.
