The comic trailer for Chip Zdarsky’s first issue, Batman #125 teases a couple things including a potential return of the three Jokers.

The clip shows a series of images that tease what will happen in the inaugural “Failsafe” story arc. Images include Batman and Tim Drake arguing, Clayface, the Penguin, and three Jokers standing over a pile of bodies, including Batgirl and Robin.

The Three Jokers came from Geoff Johns’ Justice League and Three Jokers story lines. It revealed that Joker was actually three separate people who go by the code names:  The Comedian, the Clown, and the Criminal. However, by the end of Three Jokers, Jason Todd killed The Clown, and The Criminal was murdered by his fellow Joker, The Comedian.

Beyond the potential return of the Three Jokers, Batman #125 also briefly teases the new villain threat: Failsafe. Previously, writer Zdarsky described Failsafe as “Batman’s Doomsday”. The trailer proclaims: “The Dark Knight has a plan for everything… Including Death”. It then ends with a mysterious read light shining through the dark. What does that mean? What are Failsafe’s abilities?

Check out the trailer’s official description below.

Superstar writer Chip Zdarsky joins legendary artist Jorge Jimenez to define a new era in Batman! Bruce Wayne is haunted by dreams of a dark future, while Gotham City billionaires are being murdered. With the discovery of an archenemy’s involvement, the Dark Knight’s nightmares are just beginning. “Failsafe” starts in Batman #125, on sale this July!

Batman #125 will be released on Tuesday, July 5 at local comic book shops and participating digital platforms.
