Mattel is taking over the toy licensing for DC Comics and they revealed their adult collectible figure line-up.
Currently, McFarlane Toys has the license for DC characters. However, that agreement is set to end of the 2026 calendar year.
Starting in 2027, Mattel will release the DC Core collectible line. All figures are about 6.5 inches tall, have 22 points of articulation, and come with a bunch of accessories. Interestingly, the accessories tend to be one-colored plastic items or giant-oversized weapons that have shooting features.

To be honest, the accessories resemble the toys for a younger audience. But, the detailing, paint job, and articulation make it more collectible-oriented. The first wave will include: Batman, Robin, Joker, and the Flash.
DC Core Line-Up
Batman is donning more classic blue and grey color scheme. However his bat-logo is lifted from the Greg Capullo designed outfit where it’s a big bat-logo with a yellow outline. His utility belt is also the capsule belt from the 1970’s. This is a long way of saying that Mattel is making up their own design and not taking any particular costume from the comics or movies.
Batman also comes with a wide assortment of weapons: 5 Batarangs, 2 Throwing Discs, 1 grappling guyn, 3 projectiles and 1 Bat-shaped zipline slider. It also has a weapons rack to store all of the accessories. You can pre-order Batman here.
Just like Batman, Robin also made up of a hodge podge of different past designs. Robin has the bright colors and pixie boots like Dick Grayson’s old costume. However, he also has the sharp R logo like Tim Drake’s logo. So it’s anyone’s call on which Robin that the figure represents. Robin comes with 2 Double Batarangs that can attach to belt, 2 Throwing Stars, 2 Double-Bladed Bo Staffs, 1 Dagger and 2 sets of handcuffs. You can pre-order Robin here.
The Joker more or less looks like his classic version. However he comes with giant-honkin’ chattering teeth gun that shoots plastic missiles. Truthfully, it’s accessories like this that makes this feel more juvenile than a normal collectible figure line. No adult collector wants an action feature novelty gun. However, one super cool accessory that is unique to Mattel is the Joker-induced masks for the other heroes in the figure line-up. So the Joker also comes with alternate faces made out of soft-plastic for Batman, Robin, and the Flash to simulate them being under the Joker gas. That is a pretty cool idea. You can pre-order the Joker here.
Finally, the odd man out in the initial wave is the Flash. The Flash looks like Barry Allen’s classic costume with the straight lightning belt. He comes with 2 Speed Force flare effects for legs and 1 for the back, which is a great way to simulate the Flash’s speed. However, what is weird is are 2 Speed Force Scimitars, a Speed Force Shield and a Lightning Bolt for throwing. Because we all know how the Flash uses giant lightning bolt throwing stars. You can pre-order the Flash here.
All the figures are on pre-sale and should be released in 2027. They retail at the shockingly-low price of $12.99 USD.
