Batman Gadgets In Real Life

One of the greatest things about Batman is his humanity, as it makes him far more relateable than some other fictional characters. He wasn’t born on a different planet that makes him superhuman under the yellow sun. He isn’t a Martian, and he doesn’t have super speed. He wasn’t given an all-powerful green ring. No… he’s just a human being with the will and determination to be the best. Oh… and Batman gadgets rule!

That’s right. As we all know, the Dark Knight make up for his humanity with an arsenal of gear and gadgets to help him wage his war on crime. This is where YouTuber the Hacksmith comes in. He takes fictional ideas from movies, video games and comic books and makes real life, working prototypes of them. He shows the engineering process in his on-line videos and then tests them.

In a video posted earlier this week, Hacksmith posted real, working Batman gadgets. He goes over what their Batman function would be and teaches a little bit about the engineering behind how they got them to work.

The gadgets are:

  • Batarang
  • Repelling Hook
  • Grapple Hook
  • Batman Baha (mini Batmobile)
  • Rocket Powered Batarang
  • Nightwing’s Escrima Sticks

Check out the video below!

As you see, some of the gadgets are more functional than others. The Batarangs are basically just throwing stars/shuriken, there’s nothing too fancy about them. The grapple hook, however, while functional, isn’t as fast or smooth as the movies or comics might lead you to believe.

It should also be noted that these gadgets are dangerous. One of the testers separated their shoulder trying the grapple gun and the rocket powered Batarang went off in one of their faces. Please do not try this at home.
