Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe managed to perfect the formula for an interconnected movie universe, Hollywood has made it one of the biggest trends of the last decade. Ignoring DC’s attempt at a movie universe, DC’s found success building a universe outside of comic books in the Arrowverse and the DC Animated Movie Universe. Before 2013, DC’s slate of animated movies were very much standalone affairs, adapting various important stories from their long history. However, like the New 52 in comic books, the animated movies went through their own universe-altering event in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. While DC continues to release standalone animated movies, the bulk of their animated releases take place in one universe. Like Avengers: Endgame before it, DC is looking to close out their animated movie universe. In anticipation of this event, WB/DC has released a new clip from Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

Back in 2014, Justice League: War was released, banding together a new incarnation of the JL for this animated movie universe. In that movie, they united to fight one of the biggest baddies of the DCU, Darkseid. And it looks like it’s all coming full circle in just a few weeks, when Justice League Dark: Apokolips War strikes.

Yeah, those are no Parademons.

In the meantime, we have this cool new clip to help tide us over while we wait:

In the clip, a fractured League is heading to Apokolips with Constantine and Lex Luthor, when they meet some beasties. Those are definitely NOT Parademons. They look like a cross between Doomsday and Trigon, which, considering the implications, is absolutely horrifying. These slate of stories have been pretty rad, so it was great hearing this recurring cast of actors continuously coming back to play these characters. By far, I’m really going to miss Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman the most. As the Magneto memes go, “Perfection.” Either way, this looks like it’s going to be pretty damn epic.

What did you think of this new clip from Justice League Dark: Apokolips War? Are you excited? What are you looking forward to most? Let me know.

Justice League Dark: Apokolips hits digital on May 5 and physical shelves on May 19, 2020. Don’t miss out on this culmination, which has been six years in the making!
