According to a rumor, Matt Reeves is planning on having 6 rogues to anatagonize RBattz in the upcoming The Batman. Rumored for the movie are Catwoman, Penguin, Mad Hatter, Firefly, Two-Face, and the Riddler. Among them, Catwoman has had the most live-action iterations with a total of 7 actresses. It’s a bit much and I’d definitely prefer another female rogue, but you can’t argue that she’s an insanely popular character.

While this is a still a rumor, unconfirmed by WB, it’s still fun to speculate which new young actress could take on the role and do her justice. Who do you think would be a good fit for Catwoman? One such young actress, whom I’ve adored, is somewhat interested in the role. Aubrey Plaza, known for her roles in as April in Parks and Recreation and Lenny in Legion loves the character.

On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, her interest in the character was brought up. Plaza indicated that when asked which superhero she’d want to play, she’d just offhandedly mention Catwoman, because she liked the character. She never really believed she would be cast as the character, though. Colbert decided to bring out a few props so that she could “show” the WB execs what she could bring to the part.

“Is that what a cat does?”

Check out the video below:

It’s clearly a joke on Colbert’s part, but Plaza is always game for a laugh and played along. Probably in a way that the chat show host wasn’t expecting. All jokes aside, if Plaza thought she’d had a chance to play the role, do you think she’d be up for the part?

While I do love Plaza, I’m not certain she can take on the role. Then again, I’ve only ever seen her in Parks and Rec and have no idea of her acting ability beyond that of the sardonic and misanthropic April. Perhaps her role in Legion has proven she has the chops to play Selina Kyle?

What do you think? Do you think Aubrey Plaza can pull off Catwoman? Do you have your own Catwoman in mind? Let me know.

The Batman will hit theatres on June 25, 2021.
