Goyer on DC Universe

DC is hot on the heels of Marvel and seems to want to create their own “Cinematic Universe”. The upcoming Batman vs. Superman (or whatever it’s called) has already started the forming of the Justice League by adding Wonder Woman in the mix. So what about connecting their big screen movies, with their small screen counterparts (ArrowFlash) ?

According to David Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel), WB doesn’t know.

I know that Warner Bros. would love to make their universe more cohesive. There have been a lot of general conversations about that, but it’s really, really early. I’m not sure. Marvel has had enormous success, but I’m not sure that everybody should try to emulate them either. It’s just been vague conversations so far.

When asked if it’d be prohibitive for a character like The Flash to be on television and in a Justice League movie, Goyer used another superhero to make his point.

I don’t think so. You know, Smallville was running while Bryan Singer’s Superman came out, and no one had a heart attack over that. I don’t know.

So WB still doesn’t know. Or they just aren’t saying. Either way, they should stray from doing what Marvel is doing. Keep themselves different than the competition. I would much rather see these heroes on their own. Arrow is one of my favorite shows on tv, but this season has been bogged down by expanding the universe, pushing the main character to the side (the show is named ARROW!).

Have we received any answers? Not really, but it’s good to hear Goyer’s stance.
