We might finally have a release date for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Ever since its announcement earlier this year during a live director’s commentary of Batman v Superman, all we’ve known is it is coming to HBO Max in 2021. As with almost all Zack Snyder news, this came via an exchange he had on the social media platform Vero. The director alludes he will “wipe the [the theatrical cut] out of existence” in March 2021.

Although the film is not without its fans, the theatrical cut of Justice League was a critical and financial disaster. Viewers immediately petitioned to see Snyder’s original vision of the film. For 2.5 years conflicting reports would come out regarding the Snyder Cut’s existence. Some claiming it exists and just needs to finish special effects, others saying Snyder’s cut never existed.

Who knows what happened behind the scenes, but ultimately WB and Zack Snyder made amends and will be releasing Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max.

What We Missed The First Time

We’ve learned so many new details about what is essentially a brand new Justice League film. Darkseid will be the main threat, as was originally intended. Steppenwolf, who was the main villain in the theatrical cut, will be going back to his Batman v Superman design. Martian Manhunter will be in the film and will be revealed to be a character we’d already seen in Man of Steel and BvS. Joe Manganiello and Jared Leto will be reprising their roles as Deathstroke and the Joker, respectively.

With each new piece of news that comes out, it becomes more and more clear just how far off the original path the theatrical Justice League went. If what Zack Snyder said about March 2021 is true, we don’t have much longer to wait. He’s even working on a new trailer for it as we speak.
