It’s now been revealed that Joe Manganiello will also be a part of additional photography for the Snyder cut, reprising the role of Deathstroke. Earlier this month, Manganiello discussed how he hoped the full scene he filmed for Justice League would be included in the Zack Snyder cut. Rumor had it, there was a scene of Deathstroke breaking Lex Luthor out of Arkham Asylum, where we last saw him in Batman v Superman.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League (ZSJL) is without a doubt the little engine that could. It went from a pipe dream, to a rumor in the wind, to a mythical fable, to reality. In August’s DC FanDome event, we finally got our first look at the HBO Max exclusive.

While Zack Snyder did confirm he was working on finishing his version, it was then revealed that there would be additional material filmed in October for the director’s cut. Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Ray Fisher were all confirmed to be returning to the studio to help Snyder complete his vision. The film’s cinematographer, Fabian Wagner, even shared a teaser image from the set recently.

Joke Is On You

As if all this news wasn’t exciting enough, just this week it was revealed that Jared Leto will be reprising his role as the Joker in ZSJL. This came to a shock to, well, everyone. Leto hasn’t exactly been subtle in his feelings of how he felt his performance was treated in Suicide Squad. Despite being heavily marketed before the film, his character received only about 12 minutes of screen time. He also doesn’t really doesn’t accomplish much in that time, and Leto has been vocal of how much of his performance was left on the cutting room floor.

It seems like Snyder might’ve been teasing us about the Joker’s involvement in the film for a while. Back in July, he revealed he loved Leto’s performance, and in the DC FanDome trailer, we clearly see a burnt Joker card in the wind outside of the destroyed Hall of Justice. Hopefully this means we get to see Leto’s Joker and Affleck’s Batman come face-to-face as we’ve been hoping for so many years!

The Terminator Is Back

Joe Manganiello, of course, did show up in the theatrical cut of JL. in the post-credits scene where he meets Lex Luthor on a yacht to discuss making a “league of their own”. Whether that scene will still be in ZSJL, or if Deathstroke has entirely new scenes is still unknown.

The League Unites (Again) In 2021

The additional filming is only supposed to take about one week, so who knows how big the Joker and Deathstroke scenes will be. The film is going to be 4-hours long, so there’s plenty of material, story and characters to go through.

It’s also unclear how much of the 4-hours are part of Snyder’s original vision. It’s possible he’s thought of additional material the past 3.5 years since he was, um… excused from the initial filming. It’s also possible that these are just sequences he was never able to finish.

Hopefully all will be revealed soon! Zack Snyder’s Justice League is coming to HBO Max in 2021, which is only two months away now! Are you excited to see Joe Manganiello back as Slade Wilson? Let us know.
