In March, production of The Batman was suspended due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. It was originally only supposed to last a couple of weeks, but as of this writing is still on hold. There still has been no word on when production will resume. However, Robert Pattinson, who will star as the new Bruce Wayne/Batman, isn’t exactly hating his time off.
After spending time filming Christopher Nolan’s new film Tenet, Pattinson jumped right into the role of Batman, so he’s enjoying this break before going back to work.
We’d really gotten into a really good rhythm as well, so it’s kind of strange to be pausing. But, again, it’s a hard movie. I mean, obviously it’s Batman, so it’s kind of nice. I basically went straight form Chris (Nolan’s) movie into that. And, yeah, I was feeling a little loopy anyways. So having some time off is not the worst thing in the world. But hopefully it’ll be sooner than later that everything is hopefully in a better place.
It’s a little sad to hear that they were getting into a good rhythm with filming before things shut down, but it seems like Robert Pattinson needed a break from filming back-to-back blockbusters. Hopefully no one misses a beat when they get back to work.
Currently, the United Kingdom, where The Batman was being filmed, is setting up rules for how films will return to production. There has still be no word on when The Batman will return.
The Batman is due to hit theaters on October 1, 2021.
