He adds the upcoming Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker to his personal list of films he’s eager to see. Reedus is famous for showing a good representation of masculinity, while also being drenched in blood. He’s a fantastic person to vouch for a character like the Joker. Reedus told the IMDb Show:

I can’t wait to see what Joaq does in Joker, I’m excited by that. I’ve known him for a long time and he’s just super talented. But I think a role where you can just really twist it and mess with you, is like his dream role. I think he’s gonna just kill it.

Todd Phillips inspired the talented actor, Phoenix to appear in a comic-book movie, after he’d prevoiusly rejected a role in Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange. Phoenix has expressed how Phillips enticed him by how he will share the continuity of impacting the world of Gotham City, like others before him.

So, in some ways, the process, which is obviously reading a script and meeting a filmmaker and then continuing to have meetings and discussions with Todd. I think he’s very impressive and he seems to have a very interesting understanding of this world and what he’s trying to say. Something very appealing about that and working with [Phillips] on this particular project.

Phoenix also added that this Joker interpretation feels unique and terrifying. That

Its own world in some ways, and maybe, mostly, it scares the f—ing sh-t out of me or something. It might as well be the thing that scares you the most.

The list of producers is great, including Michael E. Uslan (The Dark Knight) and Bradley Cooper (the Academy-Award Winning film: A Star Is Born) are on the team.

Phoenix will be co-starring with Robert De NiroZazie Beetz (Deadpool), Frances Conroy (AsylumHow I Met Your Mother), and Brett Cullen. The release date is October 4th, 2019.
