Merry Christmas, Batfans! Just in time for the holidays! Despite the return of Gotham a few weeks away, Fox has gifted us with some new photos of the midseason premiere and the episode following that.
Episode 12 of Season 3, entitled “Ghosts” is set to premiere on January 16th. Here are few photos to quench your thirst.
You’ll find it’s primarily the usual number of dramatically confused headshots of our handsome cast. There are a few interesting ones, however. The shot of Penguin in shock and fear seems to pique curiosity. You also have Carmine Falcone who looks subdued in what is likely is a very unpleasant conversation with Gordon regarding the events of the midseason finale. And most interesting of all, the shot of guest star David Dastmalchian, who plays a character that we know nothing about.
It’s even more intriguing given the context that Dastmalchian played a henchman of the Joker in The Dark Knight. Even more so given that he’s appearing in an episode heavily promoted to be the return of Cameron Monaghan’s Proto-Joker.
Fox just really wants to outdo the red-clad big guy this year. We’ve also got photos from the following episode, entitled, “Smile Like You Mean it.”
Several headshots for more of the cast to use when doing convention appearances later on. However, I did find myself morbidly laughing at the photo of the nameless cop being rammed through by a car. It also looks like Penguin is definitely going to be challenged in these two episodes, as he wields a knife with anguished expression. By far, the most interesting shot of either of the two batches is of Dr. Thompkins lifting the blanket of a corpse. Several news sites have already identified the corpse as Jerome.
That photo raises so many questions. How can the body be so well preserved? Why does it suddenly have scarring on his face similar to the New 52 Joker? How does it relate to the promo of his actual live return?
It looks like we’ll have to find out in January. Gotham will return on Fox at 8PM EST on January 16, 2017.
