DC Comics and Warner Bros have expanded their deal with Spotify to create a a variety of scripted superhero podcast series.

As Previously reported, DC initially made a deal with Spotify for a scripted podcast series starring Batman called Batman: Unburied. However, the audio streaming service and DC now plan to cultivate more series starring other characters. The scripted podcast shows will feature Superman, Lois Lane, Wonder Woman, Joker, Catwoman, Katana, The Riddler, Batgirl, and Harley Quinn.

DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee announced it at Spotify’s Stream On event. Lee was stoked to have the shows go beyond just Batman.

There’re so many character we can explore. I think the fan base will respond to this in an exciting way.

Batman: Unburied on Spotify

Last year, Spotify and DC also announced the David S. Goyer-helmed Batman: Unburied scripted podcast. Goyer wrote the story and will executive produce the show. Bat-fans are familiar with Goyer’s Bat-work, as he also scripted Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Batman V Superman.

Batman Unburied will explore the “darker” aspects of Bruce Wayne’s psychology.

The show will be developed and produced by Goyer’s Phantom Four production company, along with Warner Bros’ Blue Ribbon Content. Phantom Four’s Keith Levine will also executive produce with Goyer.

Batman: Unburied has no formal release date yet. However, it is expected to come out sometime in 2021.
