Warner Bros. Animation unveiled the trailer for the next installment of the animated film adaptation of Batman Knightfall- Knightquest.
For people who are knew to Knightfall, Bane successfully defeated and humiliated Batman. True to the source material, Bane has broken Batman’s back and left him for dead after tossing him on top of a floodlight.
The trailer picks up where the last movie ended. The Bat is broken and Bane is loose and victorious. Bane seems to now turned his attention to taking over and/or destroying Gotham City. We see him with an unknown businessman at his mercy, while they watch Gotham start blowing up. This seems to be a deviation from the comic book source material where Bane did not seem to have a concrete plan after he defeated Batman. Here, Bane seems to have a plan that echoes his plan in The Dark Knight Rises.
The trailer also features a broken, wheelchair-bound Bruce Wayne telling Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, and Jean Paul Valley that Jean Paul will be the new Batman. Then in the trailer’s funniest part, Tim yells an incredulous “WHAT!?”
Also note how we can see the evolution of the Jean Paul as Batman over the course of the trailer. We see him in the traditional Batman outfit, albeit being extremely violent with the criminals. Then we catch glimpses of him wearing those cool armored Bat-gauntlets that shoot out deadly Batarangs. The final shot, depicts that wild showdown with Jean Paul in full Az-Bats armor battling Bane. Pretty awesome to say the least.
Batman Knightfall- Part 2: Knightquest will be released some time in late 2026.
