Scarlett Johansson’s mystery role for The Batman Part II has apparently been revealed.

According to someone who is “close to the production”, Johansson will play Gilda Dent- the wife of Harvey Dent. Allegedly, the character is not yet Gilda Dent but simply Gilda Gold.

Gilda and Harvey Dent

If this report is true, this certainly can set off a whirlwind of fan speculation. If Gilda is featured in the sequel, then Harvey Dent should presumably also be in the movie. Which actor will play him? Will we see his career as a District Attorney? Will the film marry off the couple? And of course- will we see Harvey Dent’s fall from grace and become Two-Face?

The Holiday Killer

Other interesting potential questions relate to Gilda herself. In the comics, The Long Halloween graphic novel revealed Gilda as the serial killer Holiday.  We know that The Batman Part II director is familiar with Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s seminal graphic novel. The Batman and its television show spin-off The Penguin were filled with references to The Long Halloween.

Spoilers for The Batman

The first film featured the plot line of Carmine Falcone being potentially the father of Selina Kyle. The final confrontation scene between Selina and Carmine even culminated in Selina giving Carmine the scratched facial scars just like in the comics. The Penguin really dived more into the family dynamics of the Falcone, including introducing Carmine’s other daughter Sofia.

It seems really probable that Reeves could utilize Gilda’s murdering alter ego, since the Epic Batman Crime Saga has a heavy influence from Loeb and Sale’s work.

The Batman Part II will start production in spring 2026 and will hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
