Absolute Batman and Catwoman suits will be coming to the video game LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight.

This marks the first time the Absolute version of these characters will be seen in video games. The fact that Absolute Batman has only debuted in 2024 and he is now coming to video games shows the seismic impact he is already on the Batman mythos. In fact, Catwoman’s Absolute look only debuted this past September. That has got to be the quickest transition for a comic character from comic pages to a different media.

Scott Snyder on LEGO Absolute Batman

LEGO Games made the announcement complete with a new poster and teaser videos that showcase Batman and Catwoman. Also, LEGO released a video of Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder reacting and playing as the Absolute version of the Dark Knight.

“[Absolute Batman] looks perfect. And he’s all scuffed up because he doesn’t have the  money… The great thing about Batman is when you enter it, it’s not just a character, it’s an entire kind of universe, it’s a whole mythology. All his fears represented in his characters and [LEGO Batman] truly feels just like a celebration, which is the best thing you can imagine for a game like this. I’ve played many, many LEGO games … to see our stuff in there just means the world.”

In a separate statement, Snyder continued gushing about LEGO games and the inclusion of his version of the character.

“As a longtime, diehard fan of the LEGO video games, I’m so thrilled and honored to see Absolute Batman and Absolute Catwoman included in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight (alongside so many other amazing iterations)! I can’t wait for fans to see Absolute Bruce brought to life as only LEGO games can!”

Mild Disappointments for ‘LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight’

To be honest, the Absolute Batman skin is a little disappointing. So far, his cape mechanic looks exactly like all other Batman capes. However, fans might know that Absolute Batman’s cape is actually four separate pieces. But, the gameplay video seems to show it as one solid piece.

Also-I know it is just a skin- but how fun would it be to have the powers and abilities that are unique to only the Absolute version? Like, what if the cape was like the one in the Absolute title where it can be versatile and transform into a rigid stick or a hook? Or how cool would it be if we could use the Bat-axe? Oh well. There seems to be a chance that Absolute Batman will be featured in future Batman games. Maybe then, we can see him fully unleashed.

LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to come out May 22nd on gaming platforms.
