Beloved actor, Brendan Fraser, is finally stepping on the stage as Firefly and lighting up Batgirl’s Gotham. In a new video, we see Fraser blow up a building on the set of HBO Max’s upcoming movie, Batgirl.

Voicing Robotman on Titans and Doom Patrol, this isn’t Fraser’s first foray into the DC Universe, except this time, he’s not on the ‘nice’ list. The video, shared to the r/DCEUleaks subreddit, doesn’t tell us much about this new version of Firefly, but we can safely say that the pyro still loves fire. The short clip shows a building with thick smoke coming out of it and flames flickering in the windows as Brendan Fraser casually walks out of the blazing building, pausing for a moment to look at his handy work before leaving the scene.

Brief look at Firefly in action on the Batgirl set. from DCEUleaks

Firefly (Garfield Lynns) first joined the DC universe in 1952, in issue 184 of Detective Comics. Created by France Herron and Dick Sprang, as a special effects expert using trick lighting and illusions to commit crimes, he has since been reimagined as a psychotic pyromaniac and arsonist. When it was announced that Fraser would be playing Gotham’s pyromaniac, previously portrayed by Andrew Dunbar in The CW’s Arrow in 2013, fans were overjoyed to see the beloved actor joining the DCMU.

Batgirl stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as James Gordon, and Michael Keaton will also return as Bruce Wayne/Batman and feature Brendan Fraser as Firefly. Directed Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and screenplay by Christina Hodson, Batgirl is set for release on HBO Max in 2022.
