DC Comics released a super cool trailer for the upcoming limited series Absolute Catwoman.
The trailer gives us a taste of both the vibes of the series, as well as the plot. The trailer really emphasizes how Selina truly is this universe’s version of Batman. She is rich and wealthy, she has a whole array of tech at her disposal, and most interestingly she has her own version of some sort of Batcave.
Like seriously, it even looks like she has some sort of Catwoman robo-tech armor in the background there, not unlike what Batman would wear when he- say- fights the Justice League.
What the Trailer Reveals About the ‘Absolute Catwoman’ Plot
The trailer teases that something about Selina Kyle’s past is catching up with her. Now she has a team of what appears to be assassins infiltrating her home and trying to capture her. What is most intriguing is how the group of assassins are all dressed like Catwoman’s traditional outfit circa 2003. They are decked on in the Catwoman cowl, Spider-Man-shaped goggles, and leather jumpsuit. That means that we are going to be treated to essentially a mainstream Catwoman versus Absolute Catwoman showdown.
Presumably these faux- Catwomen are from Selina’s past. The tagline for the trailer states:
“She left Gotham behind until her past came looking for her. The hunter is now the target.”
We saw one of the faux-Catwoman breaking into a safe before Selina intervened. Maybe they are hunting Selina because she stole something valuable from them or their organization. That certainly fits with the espionage thriller influence that co-writer Che Grayson talked about earlier.
