Batgirl movie costume revealed

Holy comic-book accuracy, Batman! Actress Leslie Grace has revealed the Batgirl movie costume which will be seen in the forthcoming film directed by Bad Boys For Life head honchos, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

The response from the Dark Knight News team has been phenomenal! The fact that this gorgeous uniform seems to be a synthesis of the wonderful Batgirl of Burnside look, designed by Babs Tarr and Cameron Stewart, and the costume currently sported by Barbara Gordon in the pages of Nightwing is, in our opinion, a great move.

I wish the film’s costume designer had been credited because they’ve produced a great piece of work. Of course, anything based on designs by talents as stellar as Babs Tarr, Cameron Stewart, and Bruno Redondo couldn’t really go wrong.

This look shows that the costume is padded, practical, and something that a fashionable, smart woman in her 20s would put together. I’m sure that there’s some kevlar under the chest plate and, knowing Barbara, same b@d@$$ tech in the cowl and utility belt.

This Batgirl movie costume is definitely a contender for the most comic book accurate superhero uniform ever.

This isn’t 1966 or 1997!

Of course, any reveal of this nature will bring out naysayers and those who disapprove. We’ve already seen people online saying that this costume “Is nothing like the comics”, “Yvonne Craig’s look was better”, or “Alicia Silverstone had armor… what’s this?” Well, for all the “this isn’t my Batgirl” people out there, stick with your VHS tapes and DVDs, because it’s clear that most of you haven’t picked up a comic in about ten years. A look at the designs by Tarr, Stewart, and Redondo, as seen above, clearly show just how accurate the new Batgirl movie costume really is.

Batgirl, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, written by Christina Hodson, and starring Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Michael Keaton as (a?) Batman and Brendan Fraser is currently scheduled for release in 2022.
