Turturro is a highly skilled actor, with a wide range. He’s been in comedies, dramas, thrillers – you name it – and is an excellent addition to the cast. He will be only the second actor to play Carmine Falcone in a live-action film. Falcone’s only other appearance on film was in 2005’s Batman Begins, where he was masterfully played by Tom Wilkinson. John Doman played the character on the TV series Gotham.
Who Is Falcone?
Carmine “The Roman” Falcone is the head of the Falcone crime family and is an enemy of Batman. Falcone’s appearances in Batman lore are typically in the early days of the Dark Knight. Falcone usually controls the city, and a combination of Batman and the rise of masked villains causes his downfall. Falcone being in The Batman gives us a clue as to where in the timeline in Batman’s career this film is taking place.
John Turturro joins an already stellar cast of Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred. Jayme Lawson has also been cast in the film in a currently unknown role, with Colin Farrell being rumored for The Penguin, but nothing has officially been said on that front.
What are your thoughts of John Turturro’s casting as Carmine Falcone? What do you think Falcone being in the film means? Let us know! Keep it here for more upcoming news on The Batman!
