Morena Baccarin Confirms her Interest in Playing Catwoman

Morena Baccarin seems like a classy actress interested in playing classy roles… that is until the infamous International Women’s Day scene in the first Deadpool flick. Not content to play in just one playground, Baccarin has since been seen weekly in DC’s field playing Leslie Thompkins on Fox’s Gotham since the series’ first season.

But apparently, there’s yet another role she’s been wanting for quite some time. There have been rumors swirling around the Internet that Baccarin actually has an interest in playing Catwoman. Well, in a live Instagram Q&A a couple days ago, she’s confirmed it.

Check out the video below:

While I may not be the biggest fan of her role in Gotham, I’ve adored her as Deadpool’s main squeeze, but then again, she has a very limited role there. At the very least, she has range and if given a role that’s she’s ridiculously passionate about, I’m sure she’ll do very well.

Do you want to know just how passionate she is about playing Catwoman? Well, her love of the character goes back pretty far.

Morena Baccarin owned a catsuit in high school

When speaking with People, she was asked about Catwoman. Baccarin volunteers that she’s been obsessed with Catwoman since high school. Check out the video below.

Looks like she’s a fan of Michelle Pfeiffer’s turn at the feline fatale in Batman Returns. Though Pfeiffer didn’t quite play a comic-accurate version, she was still pretty incredible in the role and it’s not hard to see why Baccarin would enjoy her work. And yes, it seems that she owned a catsuit. I can’t brush over that detail.

Do I believe she can play the role? Absolutely. However, it’s hard to say that we’d ever be getting another live-action Catwoman any time soon, since 2012, when Anne Hathaway donned the catsuit and those… ear-goggle things. However, maybe she can go the route that her husband did, when Ben McKenzie played Batman in the animated adaptation of Batman: Year One. There’s no shortage of DC animated Batman movies, so maybe WB can do her (and us) a favor and give her a go at Selina. At least that way, we’d kind of have a real life version of Bruce and Selina as a married couple. Kind of…

While I don’t think we’re going to have another live-action Catwoman any time soon, a Redditor took it upon himself to imagine what Baccarin would look like as Catwoman.
