The Batman Part II may have casted Tobias Menzies in the role of Amadeus Arkham.
Menzies appeared as Prince Philip on the long-running series The Crown and as James Bond’s weapon tech guy Villers in movie Casino Royale. Amadeus Arkham will reportedly play a major role for the sequel movie.
Fans may know Amadeus Arkham as the founder of Arkham Asylum- or Arkham State Hospital, as it is known in The Batman universe.
Currently, the Riddler and a somewhat photo-Joker reside in Arkham State Hospital. Carmine Falcone’s daughter Sofia Gigante also resided in Arkham before being released, as seen in The Penguin series.
What Role Would Amadeus Arkham Play?
It would be interesting to see Amadeus Arkham play any kind of role in the next movie. Would he appear in flashbacks only or will he be placed in the present day? Keep in mind, according to the comics, Amadeus Arkham founded Arkham Asylum a century prior to Batman’s time. Amadeus opened the asylum only to eventually fall into madness himself and be treated in his own facility.
It was most recently run by his nephew Jeremiah Arkham-who himself is not a well man. Despite this comic book lore, that doesn’t mean Amadeus Arkham can’t interact with Batman and his costumed cohort in the new movie. Perhaps they will mix up the timeline a bit and bring Amadeus to the present day.
In the meantime, filming for The Batman Part II will reportedly begin production at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London, United Kingdom, on January 1, 2026.
The Batman Part II hits movie theaters October 16th, 2027.
