Gamescon 2025 announced a trailer for the new video game LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, DC, and the LEGO Group is producing LEGO Batman. It promises to combine Arkham trilogy fighting styles, puzzles, and open-world maps with Batman’s rich history and LEGO’s traditional humor.
For example, the combat system is uses a similar chaining attacks and gadgets as Arkham, like counters, takedowns, Batarangs, and the Batclaw to reel them in. What is an upgrade over Arkham is the wide variety of characters who also have their own signature gear and moves. They confirmed many of the Bat-family will be playable characters as a local cooperative gameplay, like Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and-most interestingly-Talia al Ghul. The game boasts of each character’s unique attacks, like Gordon’s foam sprayer, Robin’s line launcher, and Catwoman’s whip.
It also features the partner characters the ability to grow along side you in your crimefighting journey. So you can see Dick Grayson as an orphaned circus acrobat, to Robin, then eventually to Nightwing.
‘Legacy of the Dark Knight’
The game seems to take inspiration from every single piece of Batman lore. They play the Danny Elfman score from the Tim Burton films; Catwoman recreates that one scene from Batman Returns; the Joker is clearly based on the Heath Ledger The Dark Knight version; and we even see an homage to the Penguin/ Batmobile chase scene from The Batman. Clearly, the game is trying to live up to the “Legacy” portion of Legacy of the Dark Knight.

Not surprisingly with a title like that, the game boasts of a ton of character appearances. Players will battle the likes of The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Bane, and more. On the flip side, players can unlock an army of alternate Bat-suits by solving puzzles. The makers report that there are over 100 suits to choose from.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be available sometime in 2026. It will be on the PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
