In case you weren’t aware, while Marvel continues to dominate the news cycle by supposedly setting up a multiverse in the upcoming threequel to the Sony/Marvel Studios Spider-Man, DC has also reportedly been setting up its own (original) multiverse in its upcoming live-action The Flash flick. The most prominent report to come out of The Flash involved Michael Keaton returning to play the Batman. Keaton is one of the more beloved Batman actors, so fans are keen to see him put on the cape and cowl again. There is another actor who starred alongside Keaton who also gave an iconic performance, one that’s currently still unmatched. Personally, I feel that Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman remains the best cinematic outing for the character. Thankfully, it seems that she would play Catwoman again.
Recently, Screen Rant got the opportunity to interview Pfeiffer, while she was promoting her newest flick French Exit. With all the news of Keaton returning in a multiversal DC film, SR asked to see if Pfeiffer would return too. The answer is yes. Pfeiffer said she would play Catwoman again, if asked:
Screen Rant: I’m a huge comic book fan and it’s not lost on me the cat connection here. Michael Keaton will be reprising his role as Batman. Would you be interested in reprising your role as Catwoman?
Michelle Pfeiffer: I would if anyone asked me, but no one’s asked me yet.
Could the best cinematic Catwoman return?
If anybody has any connections with Warner Bros., Ezra Miller, or Andy Muschietti, get them on the phone now! Someone needs to ask Pfeiffer, stat!
It’s not particularly news because Pfeiffer has continued to express interest in returning to the role for years now. We have reports going as far back as 2012 where she also said she’d return if asked. However, in the context of setting up a multiverse with Keaton, it seems closer than ever.
Also, CW’s The Flash has already incorporated Tim Burton’s Batman into their Arrowverse when its crossover “Crisis of Infinite Earths” aired in 2019. With Pfeiffer playing yet another comic book character in Janet Van Dyne for Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man franchise, she’s gotta be in demand now. It could happen, right?
Would you like to see Michelle Pfeiffer return as Catwoman? How likely do you think that Warner Bros. would reach out to her? Let me know what you think.
