“It was a unique take on Batman that was still consistent with the mythology. It made me excited. All of a sudden I had a reading of the character. When people see it, it will make more sense than it does now or even than it did to me initially.
In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck addressed his casting of the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel (the rumored to be titled Batman vs. Superman) sequel with honesty, humor and candor.
While Ben has been asked about his casting on several late-night shows, this is a first time he opens up about his love and regrets of Daredevil, the internet backlash of his casting and the different take on the Batman character that “was still consistent with the mythology.”
His comments on Daredevil in particular (the film the actor believes is his most regrettable) are funny and brutally honest.”[Daredevil] just kills me. I love that story, that character, and the fact that it got f*cked up the way it did stays with me. Maybe that’s part of the motivation to do Batman.” He goes on to say “If I thought the result would be another Daredevil, I’d be out there picketing myself. [laughs] Why would I make the movie if I didn’t think it was going to be good and that I can be good in it?”
Batman vs. Superman (Man of Steel 2) begins shooting in February with a July 2015 release date. Stay tuned to Dark Knight News for extensive coverage of this highly anticipated film.
