That’s right. According to DC Comics’ Twitter, Batman and Robin Vol. 2: Pearl has made Amazon’s list of top books of the month for comics and graphic novels. Awesome, right? If you haven’t had the chance to check it out, here’s some insight for you.
Batman and Robin: Volume 2: Pearl delves deeper into Bruce’s biological son, Damien’s, inner demons. Yahoo! writer Eric Shirey reviewed the graphic novel, saying:
Batman and Robin Volume 2: Pearl gives us more of the complex dynamics of the Bat-Family. At times, it begins to feel like a prime time soap opera based around the Dark Knight and his dysfunctional bunch. I don’t mean that in a negative manner, either. It adds an emotional level that strengthens the book and elevates it above your simple action/adventure fare.
Split up into four different storylines, Damien’s journey begins with his mother, Talia, and the rigorous training she puts him through. Throughout the next set of storylines, we watch Damien come into his own, earning his place beside his father. And last but not least, he faces his attempted assassination by someone hired by none other than his own mother.
From the sounds of it, writer Peter J. Tomasi is going to have his readers on the edge of their seats.
