David Ayer recently commented on Twitter on the amount of work needed satisfy fans’ desire for an Ayer Cut of his 2016’s superhero movie Suicide Squad.
Cut to the quick
Its probably written in stone at this point, the narrative surrounding the 20-Teens era of Warner/DC film projects will forever be one of insecure, meddling studio suits spoiling the artistic vision of directors. Fans managed to achieve a certain sort of justice through their triumphant push for the release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, so now comic fans are clamoring for the release of the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. They can count on the support of David Ayer himself, who recently assured the world that it would not take much work to bring his original vision of Task Force X back from the void.
No need for reshoots. Just some VFX work. https://t.co/gOel5bP9OS

The Ayer Cut
As the story goes, Warner Bros. got freaked out by the ho-hum reception to Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice while second-tier Marvel properties Deadpool and Guardians of The Galaxy raked in the cash and accolades with a blend of irreverent humor and classic rock staples. This led to a dramatic shift in tone away from Ayer’s original gritty vision and left a shallow husk of a movie that failed to please most critics and fans. It also required such extensive cuts that Jared Leto basically drove himself half-insane for nothing.
Is there a masterpiece waiting to be restored from the cutting room floor? All we know is that David Ayer certainly thinks so, and there seem to be plenty of fans ready to go to bat to see the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad brought to light.
