Over the last few weeks, God of War art director Raf Grassetti has been posting his reimagining of Batman: The Animated Series characters on Instagram. DKN has quietly and periodically provided updates on his endeavors. However, as of yesterday, Grassetti has finally completed the collection with, of course, Batman himself.

If you’ve been following this story, then you won’t be disappointed.

Grassetti’s style is fairly unique; he tries to retain most of the cartoonish elements of Bruce Timm’s original designs, while adding some details, depth, texture and lighting to make them more realistic. For the most part, all of the characters he’s done so far have been fairly recognizable compared to their original B:TAS counterparts. However, Bats seems to be a bit different.

While I personally find it pretty breathtaking, it’s hard to find the resemblances to the original BTAS version at first glance. It took a multi-tiered analysis to find the resemblances, however minor. The eyes and the Bat symbol emblazoned across his chest seem to be the first things that pop out. The gray costume draped over the shoulders by a leather cape, with a blue inlay is there as well. The attention to detail is impressive. However, I can’t shake the fact that at first glance, it just looks like any other Batman. Still pretty awesome, though.

Either way, this completes his re-imagining of Batman: The Animated Series characters. Take a look at the full poster below:

Of the bunch, my favorites are Clayface, Man-Bat, and Killer Croc, as they clearly showcase his skill in illustrating creatures and monsters. Phantasm and Mr. Freeze take the top spots for being so sinister-looking. Also, it helps that those two were positioned well to be translated into more realistic re-imaginings.

Be sure to check out Raf Grassetti’s Instagram for other fine works of art.
