This Friday saw the theatrical release of Joker, a grounded R-rated origin movie for the Clown Prince of Crime. It’s crazy to think that when this movie was first announced last year, a lot of fans, myself included, were extremely skeptical. Overall, we didn’t really need a Joker origin movie, let alone one directed by the guy responsible for the Hangover Trilogy. However, it’s currently in theatres, garnering so much love. So much so that one of geek culture’s most important champions and in my opinion, the greatest Joker ever, weighed in. Mark Hamill has tweeted his praise for Joker.
If you didn’t know by now, Hamill is one of the most unashamed, outspoken geeks in Hollywood today. He’s an encyclopedia of pop culture and his love for comic books in particular is well-documented. His reverence for the character of the Joker is pretty immeasurable, as he constantly takes to social media and speaks loudly of his admiration for the character, and the various platforms he inhabits. He already made it a point to tweet praise for the Joker trailer when it first came out.
Two thumbs up?
Now with the movie out, he’s tweeting his praise for Joker, the actual movie.
Take a look:
The #JokerMovie opens today. The awesome Joaquin Phoenix, Todd Phillips & Scott Silver brilliantly reimagine the character as never seen before! 2 thumbs up from that old-school, comic book version… me. ??? pic.twitter.com/Ex4is4OvPC

Pretty high praise, indeed. The People’s Joker makes his public declaration of adoration for yet another person to wear the face paint. Hamill continues to support pretty much every incarnation of the Joker around. What a class act, man.
Me personally, I believe that this film was such a leap forward for comic book cinema with so much technical prowess. This film fully exhibits some masterful filmmaking, folks. Go check it out as soon as you can.
Joker is in theatres now.
