In case you didn’t know, the trailer for Todd Phillips’ Joker origin movie dropped earlier in the week. Over the past few months, it’s been really tough for me to fathom that this movie was being made with real money and real people, but I can’t deny that that’s a good trailer. It’s a teaser that reveals very little, aside from a man’s descent into madness, which is exactly what you want from a Joker origin movie. I’m still skeptical about the film, but this trailer definitely alleviated some apprehension. You just gotta approach every DC movie with some cautious optimism, folks.

One of the most beloved Joker actors in history just stepped up to give the trailer a ringing endorsement. Mark Hamill, the voice you hear in your head whenever you see the Joker – so much so that WB has to impersonate him – posted on Twitter to share his excitement for the movie.

What I love about Hamill is that although he’s played the Joker more than anyone in history, he’s not protective of the character. Since I’ve followed the legend, he’s always been supportive of every other Joker actor out there. I don’t think the man has said a single negative thing about any other actor who’s ever played the role. He’s a true fan of the medium and the character. A national treasure.

The trailer sets a mesmerizingly chilling tone, which is exactly what I wanted from this movie. Let me know what you guys think.

Joker hits theatres on October 4, 2019.
