Justice Society of America: Ragnarok #5 sends our minds for a spiral. This battle between the Justice Society of America and the Unjustice League has been a brutal one. And that doesn’t even touch on the JSA versus other member’s of the JSA. But we will get there. First let’s pause on the cover provided by Cully Hamner. We see the gang of Hawkman and Hawkwoman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Doctor Fate, Wildcat, and Kid Eternity ready to take on all comers. I hope their stance is not just a facade.
Definitely A Prickly Pear
Our journey in Justice Society of America: Ragnarok #5 begins by rejoining readers with Hawkman and Kid Eternity as they make their way out of Hell. Their banter is interrupted by Wotan’s men on patrol for Hawkman. A face-off with them is inevitable but Hawkwoman showing up for the battle makes it a quick work out. The three make their way to rejoin the others at the Tower of Fate.
Meanwhile, Scandal Savage may have the advantage in the light, but the stakes are soon evened once Doc Mid-Nite takes out the lights. She manages to get free and drags Todd along with her, knowing she has to warn the team by any means necessary. We also get an update on Todd and Jakeem as they try to make their way out. But the damage Johnny Sorrow has wrought is made clear as a line of separation between the team is acted upon. Will Jade be able to mend her fractured team?
Reckoning Is A Coming
Jeff Lemire made movement fast and seamless as we moved through Justice Society of America: Ragnarok #5. Because Justice Society of America: Ragnarok #5 is movement. All parts of the story have the space between narrowed, and it definitely has me on the edge of my seat. The Injustice Society is stepping out of the shadows full force. Diego Olortegui and Luis Guerrero have done an astounding job bringing these pivotal moments in the story to life. The fight between Scandal and Doc was really brutal, it was rough watching it all unfold.
Conclusion
Justice Society of America: Ragnarok #5 is leading us to the conflict we have been waiting for readers. The solemn words that we close to should be enough to whet the appetite of carnage and no holds barred action that is coming. What happens is up in the air. Will Kobra finally win? Will the Justice Society of America be torn asunder by the schemes of the Injustice Society? Find out with me next time friends!
