Warner Bros. announced that they are pushing back the release dates for two Batman related movies: The Batman Part II and The Brave and the Bold.
The Batman Part II’s new release date has been moved to October 1, 2027. This is pushes the film back by one full calendar year. Fans have speculated that the delay is due to needing more time to work on the script, based on the teeny drips of updates from the cast and crew. The last update, Alfred actor Andy Serkis reported that filming would begin in early 2025.
DC Studios James Gunn talked about the delay on Threads. Gunn confirmed that the movie needed more time to allow The Batman director Matt Reeves more time to complete the script.
This delay is second one for the film. It initially was set for an October 3, 2025 release date. Presumably, the 2023 writer and actor strikes pushed back the screenwriting and pre-production process.
Two Batman Movies Delayed
On the other side of things, The Brave and the Bold is also being delayed. The film was supposed to the DCU debut of Batman, as well as Damian Wayne as Robin. Flash director Andy Muschietti revealed that it is being postponed a bit.
On the podcast California Secreta, Muschietti said that he will be writing a science fiction movie before starting work on Brave and the Bold.
“I’m now writing a science fiction movie that I would like to do… Batman is a project that’s been postponed a bit. So there could be another film before it, possibly that one.”
While this announcement is also disappointing to fans, it is probably is not as hard-hitting at The Batman‘s delay. DC Studios never made any official release date announcement and there also has been very little information on casting or production other than Muschietti’s involvement.
It seems that Bat-fans are going to have to be patient for the time being.
