There can be no doubt that the Batmobile, in its many iterations, ranks as one of the greatest fictional vehicles ever created. Now, the German/Italian manufacturer, Automobili Pininfarina, has announced that they will create real-life vehicles based on the iconic car.

Automobili Pininfarina GmbH is a luxury electric vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Munich, Germany, with roots in the Italian car design firm and coachbuilder Pininfarina SpA. The company also has a design facility and office locations in Turin, Italy.

Here’s their announcement, as published on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter):

Denny O’Neil, one of the most influential writers in Batman comic history, stated in his novelization of ‘Batman: Knightfall’, that one version of the Batmobile was a highly modified Maserati. This makes perfect sense, as any sports car, no matter how powerful, would need to be enhanced to perform in the way that the Batman would need it to.

This is hugely exciting news, and the car itself is stunning. A full HD dubbed video from DPC Cars, promoting the launch, can also be found on YouTube:

The fact that the new Automobili Pininfarina vehicle will be electric brings it right into the 21st Century and will make it a greener and environmentally friendly car. This will undoubtedly attract fans wanting a cool, high-performance ride, but without any of the negative fuel-guzzling and toxic emissions associated with most carbon-fueled sports cars.

The sleek designs of the new Battista and B95 models are very attractive and clearly match the look of some of the 90s-2000s comic versions of the Batmobile. Personally, I think this is a great idea and look forward to seeing one of these driving through London one day.
