There is no stopping Mark Waid. As well as writing SHAZAM! and Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, he’s announced that he’ll also be writing two new series! Teaming up with the amazing JLA artist, Bryan Hitch, for a DC Black Label miniseries called Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor, we’re already on the edge of our seats. The World’s Finest will also be adding World’s Finest: Teen Titans to the growing family, which will feature artwork from talented Wonder Woman artist, Emanuela Lupacchino. We’re very excited about these two new series releases.

From its premise, Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor is a six-part mini-series that will see the Man of Steel search the world, even across space and time, for a cure for his greatest enemy, Lex Luthor. Although many people worldwide would rather the villain suffer, Superman can’t just let that happen.

Taking readers back to the very start of DC’s teen superhero team, World’s Finest: Teen Titans looks to give fans modern retellings of their classic adventures. This series will get the old, original gang back together, with a newer look.

In an exclusive interview with CBR and Mark Waid talked about his two new upcoming projects:

Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor:

As we’ll see in the story, there’s a special reason that Superman’s willing to go to such great lengths to save Lex above and beyond his vow to preserve all lives. What makes this a Black Label story is the deeper-than-usual look at the philosophical issues at play regarding Superman’s views on the human race.

World’s Finest: Teen Titans

The demand from editorial came out of their guest appearances in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. Everyone on the team — maybe me, first and foremost — loves these versions of the characters. There’s so much ground here that’s never been covered: What’s the foundation of the Dick/Donna relationship? What makes Speedy so cocky? How does Kid Flash feel about being the “kid brother” in the team? Do Aqualad and Wonder Girl have enough in common — think about it — to be a situationship? There’s so much material here!

Emanuela Lupacchino’s art

Working with Ema is wonderful! She can pull off both the big action sequences and the quiet emotional beats, and she’s terrific at bringing the funny to the funny moments!

Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor #1 will release on July 25th.

World’s Finest: Teen Titans #1 will hit the shelves on July 11th.
