Canceled Batgirl Movie Gets An Unofficial Trailer

We were all shocked to find out that the Batgirl movie we were looking forward to has been canceled, but an unofficial trailer has been released.

Batgirl was nearly complete when Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav suddenly canceled it, crushing all our hopes and dreams. From everyone’s loss, however, a trailer rises. The Corridor Crew, VFX artists working for Corridor Digital, have gathered shots from other movies, or created their own using costumes and props and casting Jordan Coleman to stand in for Leslie Grace, to give us what we deserve. A trailer… but with a twist.

In the clip, Batgirl investigates a series of fire-based crimes with an over-dramatized voiceover telling us what’s happening in Gotham. She eventually meets up with the pyromaniac, Firefly, played by the beloved Brendan Fraser, only to reveal that he wasn’t the main villain behind the gruesome attacks. Eventually, she’s led her to a pair of gangsters who shout “We’re the Warner Brothers! And you’re a write-off!” The fact that those villains look suspiciously like certain executives must surely be just a coincidence… right?

It’s hard to say which parts of the video are actually from the Batgirl movie, but it’s doubtful that we’ll ever see any more than what’s in this spoof trailer. As disappointing as it is that we won’t get to see a real trailer for the film, it’s probably better that we don’t. It would only get our hopes up that Warner Bros will change their minds and release it eventually.

Michael Keaton, who we were looking forward to seeing play Batman once again, has said:

I think it was a business decision; I’m going to assume it was a good one.

What are your thoughts on this spoof trailer? Do you think we should get an official version? Let us know in the comments.
