When it comes to the Justice League film, everything comes with a bit of a story—even the score. WaterTower Music has now released the first official song from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Composed by Tom Holkenborg – aka Junkie XL – and titled The Crew at Warpower, it clocks in at 6-minutes and 49-seconds. Take a listen below:
The title is vague enough that it doesn’t offer any clues as to where this piece could be heard in the film, but the tone of the track may offer some clues as to the type of scene it may play along with. It’s got an action feel to it, as well as a heroic touch. With a four-hour run time, it could literally fit anywhere in Snyder’s Justice League. There’s an intensity to it that is reminiscent of Junkie XL’s work on the Batman v Superman soundtrack, so this new music should fit right into the Snyder verse of the DCEU.
For those unfamiliar as to why there are new songs being revealed as we lead up to the release of The Snyder Cut, chalk it up to the overall controversy Justice League has had over the last 4 to 5 years. Junkie XL was initially to score the film, but when Snyder exited the film and he who shall not be named was brought in, the studio made other changes too. Danny Elfman was brought in to score Justice League, and while that music was great for its own reasons; it wasn’t part of Snyder’s vision.
No part of Elfman’s score is expected to make it into Snyder’s Justice League, but if this first song from Junkie XL is any indication, we’re in good hands.
