‘Batwoman’ TV Spot Introduces “A Whole New Bat”

Article by Eric Lee

The CW have dropped a new TV spot that teases viewers with Javicia Leslie as the new Batwoman.

The trailer has a dark tone to it, but features only brief shots of action. We see close-up shots of Batwoman, and also get a glimpse of Leslie’s Ryan Wilder character holding the bat-suit. Finally, the spot culminates to Wilder’s Batwoman hanging upside down, and surprising a group of criminals with a “Boo!”.

If the TV spot seems kind of familiar to Bat-fans, look no further than 2005’s Batman Begins teaser trailer. The original clip is similarly subdued, saving only a few quick shots of the city or of Batman. It also finally ends with Batman hanging upside down as a criminal screams, “Where are you!?” Batman simply retorts, “Here”.

It seems that Batwoman is going for a similar vibe in her new TV spot. The previous season of Batwoman didn’t quite go for such a creepy tone. It’s unknown if Leslie’s inclusion will take the show in a slightly different style direction. Whether that means that it will fully replicate the grittier tone of Batman Begins remains to be seen.

Javicia Leslie’s Fight Training

Meanwhile, Leslie also shows off some of her fight training. On Twitter, the actress posted a video of her beating up on her boxing dummy.

Everybody meet Bob! Bob is about to get his ass kicked!

Leslie said in the video.

She then proceeds to pummel the dummy, and, at the end of her boxing session, she says:

What you gotta say, Bob?

It all looks awesome, and Bob definitely got a whooping. Viewers are sure to see Leslie’s Batwoman kicking some more butt on the show.

Batwoman season 2 premieres on Sunday, January 17th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CW network.
