While we’re under strict quarantine to remain indoors, people seem desperate for entertainment and any real means of communication. The same can be said for some of favorite creators and celebrities. Thankfully, technology has really allowed us to communicate well without being physically present. I myself have attended several livestream concerts of one of my favorite musicians during this isolation. There have been plenty of Zoom sessions livestreamed on YouTube or various other social media platforms as well by actors, musicians, and artists. However, one particular livestream of interest to Batfans happened on Thursday afternoon. Working from home, I completely missed the livesteam. Mercifully, someone had the foresight to record it. Yes, Bat-fans, Kevin Conroy’s reading of Batman: The Adventures Continue is on YouTube.

Announced on Wednesday, April 8th, DC Comics streamed Kevin Conroy from his home country of Kevanistan live on Instagram, reading Batman: The Adventures Continue #1.

What an absolutely wonderful treat! Of course, we bear witness to the best incarnation of Batman ever, while hearing Conroy’s rendition of other mainstays like Alfred, Bullock, Lex Luthor, and Clark Kent!

The greatest story time!

Take a look:

It’s possibly the best story time I’ve ever attended. This is so much fun to watch because Conroy seems genuinely riveted by the material. He puts in a real performance rather than phoning it in (I’ll take my rimshot, thank you… you know, considering he’s using his phone? You get it, right?) It’s interesting to hear how much Bats’ gravelly voice has evolved over the years, but it’s still unmistakably Conroy’s Batman. Also, the two highlights are easily his renditions of Lex Luthor and Clark Kent. Conroy’s take on Lex comes off as a rich and prissy man. That made me smile, but nothing prepared me for his good ol’ boy take on Clark Kent… that had me laughing out loud.

Unfortunately, it looks like the stream suffered from some connectivity issues, so there are glitches here and there that remove part of the reading. Just fill in the story by reading alongside him.

If you weren’t available for the livestream, be sure to catch Kevin Conroy’s reading of Batman: The Adventures Continue on YouTube. As a Batfan, it’ll definitely brighten your day.

Batman: The Adventures Continue #1.1, written by Paul Dini and Alan Burnett, with pencils by Ty Templeton is out now. Batman: The Adventures Continue #1.2 will be available on April 15, 2020.
