Kevin Smith is no stranger to comic books and superheroes.  In fact, some might say he could be considered the President of the superhero comic book fan club.  Not only does Kevin Smith love to talk about and discuss different superhero stories, but he gets to actively be involved with creating them as well.

In the world of Batman, Smith has written the limited series Batman: Cacophony, as well as the mini-series The Widening Gyre.  Expanding on his DC Comics lore, and jumping over to television, Smith directed the episode “Killer Frost” of CW’s The Flash as well as the episode “Supergirl Lives” on CW’s Supergirl.  Both episodes have been really well received by fans.

It seems like Smith might not be quite done yet with his DC Television days as a director, however.  Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin on FOX’s Gotham, reached out to Kevin Smith via Twitter after Smith had mentioned he’d like to direct a future episode.

Smith gave a positive response back, expressing interest:

Along with his love of comic books and experience in writing and directing, Smith also hosts his own podcast called “Fatman on Batman,” so he does seem like a natural fit to direct a special episode of Gotham.
