Suicide Squad has officially crossed $600 million worldwide, as confirmed yesterday by director David Ayer on Twitter.
While it divided critics, Suicide Squad has proved to be a lasting success at the box office, crossing half a billion globally within only three weeks of release. Whether or not it will slow down any time soon remains to be seen, but any argument that the film was a failure financially clearly doesn’t hold much water.
This landmark officially makes the movie a hit for the studio. It’s done more than break even and while it remains to be seen whether or not DC green lights a sequel, I think things like the proposed Harley Quinn spinoff are only getting closer and closer to being a reality.
