The cast for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film has been revealed! Without delay, here it is:
Jared Leto – The Joker
Will Smith – Deadshot
Tom Hardy – Rick Flag
Margot Robbie – Harley Quinn
Jai Courtney – Boomerang
Cara Delevingne – Enchantress
They really aimed for the sky here and rightfully so. While it may be best to pursue unknowns for icons, getting A-list stars to portray lesser known characters is a good way to bring in casual moviegoers. The inclusion of familiar characters like Joker and Harley certainly helps as well.
“The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one,” Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman stated. “We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”
The role of Amanda Waller has yet to be cast. Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey are said to be up for the part. Filming is set to commence this spring in Toronto.
Suicide Squad opens in theaters August 5, 2016.
