This October, Batman’s corner of the DC Universe will expand with two more unexpected and interesting titles. The first is Arkham Manor, written by Gerry Duggan and drawn by Shawn Crystal. It’s being described as follows: ” stately Wayne Manor gets made over into the local psycho dungeon, and, perhaps predictably, some inmates wind up dead.” These new books take place in New 52 continuity, so one wonders if some dramatic shakeup is about to come in Batman Eternal or some other series and this book will examine the ramifications of that.
The second book is Gotham Academy, written by Becky Cloonan and Brendan Fletcher and drawn by Karl Kerschl. Described as ” a new monthly teen drama set at Gotham City’s most prestigious prep school”, it will see Bruce Wayne serve as the school’s benefactor and familiar characters may pop in for a visit. Kerschl’s art alone has me interested.
Gotham Academy will arrive in comic shops October 1, with Arkham Manor arriving October 22. Below are the covers for the first issues, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
