MTV Geek has recently reported that there will be a brand new mini series follow up to the classic anthology Batman Black & White.
To give some backstory to readers who may not be familiar with that series, Batman Black & White was a critically acclaimed limited series as well as a backup feature in Batman: Gotham Knights way back in 1996. Those stories have gone down as some of the best Batman comics ever created and I am inclined to agree with that. It was a huge project done by a bucket load of writers like Dennis O’Neil, Chuck Dixon, Neil Gaiman, as well as some amazing artists like the late Joe Kubert, Walt Simonson, Bruce Timm, and many more.
Like the title implies, it was an anthology series done entirely in black and white with each story offering a different take on Batman both visually and how he and his supporting cast were written. In a lot of ways, Batman Black & White was a helping platter of everything best about the Dark Knight in both amazing visual by some of the best artists available and fresh short stories, so it’s no wonder why the series is so beloved by fans, including myself. So imagine my surprise that today, MTV Geek reported that there’ll be a brand new Batman Black & White mini series starting this September. The series will be six issues long, and will have a large group of writers and artists working on the first issue alone, just like the original anthology. The first solicit for the series was also revealed.
