“Escape From Old New York”

It feels so good to be back with Old Lady Harley! Of course her buddy Red Tool too. Re-entering the realm that even the Road Warrior would have a blast in, literally all we are missing is a ballad from the Queen herself, Tina Turner. Issue #3 advises us to yet again insert our mind chips, shall we?
Groddapulco
While the world is debating the Apple green Skittle versus the Lime Green flavor poor Harley and her crew are stuck in the middle of Old New York, stuck between all the worst villains who have entered into a Gladiator’s arena. We get a really nice glimpse of back story there in the beginning too and the artwork is absolutely killer in the sequences that show how Harley and Joker split for the last time.
In the present though, Catwoman and Croc book it after Harley and Red Tool are taken prison and get introduced to none of than the Bane Twins! This made me smile because it reminded me of the Dee Dee twins from the Batman Beyond animated movie.
The Kid From That One Show
Once again there are so many references to many pop culture themes that range and really truly encompass a wide variety of fandoms. One of my favorites only shows up for a few sequences, but boy are they great. It leads off with Old Lady Harley listing off the villains that are gathered in Bludhaven, all of whom easily recognizable Villains from the DCU. Suddenly we get to The Kid From That One Show and fans of the series Stranger Things should feel real delight at seeing Duncan swinging Steve’s trusty bat. It was a brilliant moment and got a chuckle out of me.
Welcome to the Dome
The references are always a joy to spot but if there is one thing that makes this series shine it is the love of the team as a whole. The writing is spontaneous and flows beautifully while maintaining a realm of chaos. The Art team brings the words to life in stunning and varying detail. They flow through the different scenes and feelings of the book seamlessly. The cover by Amanda Conner and Paul Mounts is gorgeous to behold and a warm sight for Harley fans.
Conclusion
I have said it before and will say it again this series needs to be animated. I am literally drooling over every issue and get so upset when there are no more pages for my grubby hands to turn over. This has been a wild ride so far and this issue definitely ends on a shocker, so hold on to your seats!
