A tentative release date for the 1966 Batman TV series DVD set has been announced for late November. DVD set will include new special features with Adam West and Burt Ward.

Back in January, it was announced that the 1966 Adam West Batman TV series would finally see a home media release. Being that I was never a big fan of the show, it didn’t really impact me. However, I felt the full force of its scarcity when I was trying out episodes to feature at a Batman party I was putting together. It definitely deserves its own home media release, but that’s likely a massive understatement.

Last weekend, Adam West and Burt Ward, known throughout the world for their portrayal as Batman and Robin in the 60’s Batman TV series, appeared at the St. Louis Wizard World Comic Con. There, they spoke on the release of the upcoming DVD set. They gave an idea of when the set will be released and also discussed the new features that will appear on the set.

Ward said,

“Finally, after an innumerable number of years, our series is going to be coming out, all 120 episodes. I understand it’s right at the end of November this year, in time for Christmas. I know this last week, both Adam and I at separate times, we went in and we filmed some additional bonus material for Warner Bros. that’s going to be included with the programs. And I also understand that they’ve really done a tremendous job digitally remastering our series so that it’s really going to be just absolutely gorgeous on DVD. So I think you can look forward to a very, very high class product.”

Lots of good stuff seems to be coming our way, if we’re to believe Ward. I’m most excited for the remastering. That YouTube quality is tough to endure.

West would then chime in and briefly touch upon the extent of what the bonus material will entail.

“Warner  Bros. had a very fine director/producer they hired. And he asked us the most profound questions. And Burt agrees that he asked us things that people have never asked before. And it was tough to answer, but I think we were both very honest and straightforward and told him what he wanted to know. And as a result you folks with the new DVD can see us naked. We answer questions and tell you things that we’ve never said before. They were so tricky.”

My interest is piqued and I’m curious as to what types of profound questions would be relevant to the series. Maybe they’ll be doing retrospectives on their life and careers in regards to Batman. We’ll find out in November, it seems.
