Titans: Beast World #4 is here and it’s another explosive issue. The world of meta-animals is burning and the Titans are starting to lose hope.

A Gar is Born
This issue takes a slightly new approach than the 3 previous entries we’ve had in this huge DC event. This time around we get to see Amanda Waller’s cunning plan in full effect. She and her team are on the offensive, with no time for saving people or asking permission. We see Peacemaker early on, sent to retrieve a person who some might recognize.
If you watched CW’s The Flash you’ll know the name Chester Runk. Well in the comics he’s known as Chunk and isn’t the person you’d remember from the TV show. However, his power set is the same and he is quite lethal, but why would Amanda Waller send in Peacemaker to retrieve this relatively unknown Flash character? You’ll find out. The reason couldn’t be more Waller if she tried.
This issue’s full of wonderful twists and turns, but it did feel like something was missing between how the last issue ended (and Beast World Tour: Atlantis) to where this one began. Why isn’t Nightwing a Fox? What happened?
When You Wish Upon A Gar…
As well as the new storytelling style in this issue we get consistently beautiful art. Lucas Meyer steps in for Ivan Reis and does a fine job at that! This story showed us the savage side of some of the characters, the cunning of the devilish Amanda Waller (and Dr. Hat, who I’m convinced is from Earth-3 and is the reason why Waller went to that Earth), and the consequences of all of this chaos and destruction. It felt so real seeing Jon Kent using his super-vision to see all the people suffering and dying.
Conclusion
Titans: Beast World #4 is a big step in the new direction DC will be headed after this event and is a highly recommended read.
